Mythical Creatures | ONLINE
School Holiday Workshop
Join our fully qualified Art Therapist and educator Di in an online art class where your child will design and colour their own mythical beings created using paper and coloured pencils or textas/crayons/pens/paints.
Each creation will be based on the Oaxacan tradition of Alebrijes where your creature will come to life.
Alebrijes are brightly coloured Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastical (fantasy/mythical) creatures. The first Alebrijes, along with the use of the term, originated with Pedro Linares in the 1940’s. Linares had a dream while unwell where unusual beings appeared such as a donkey with butterfly wings and a rooster with bull horns, upon recovery and waking he began recreating the creatures he saw in cardboard and paper-mâché and called them Alebrijes.
This workshop will run for an hour live on Zoom and all you will need of a bit of paper and any type of colouring material. Recommended for ages 5-12.
