South Asia x South West – BINDI BOSSES x RED DOT REVOLT
As we approach the annual Deepavali period, the South Asia x South West evening event at CASULA POWERHOUSE ARTS CENTRE is set to celebrate the exciting contemporary manifestations and reinterpretations of South Asian culture that are emerging all over South-West Sydney.
On November 3rd, a fusion of traditional and contemporary South Asian culture will come to life, with an explosion of creativity, dance, culinary delights and art, all that embodies the rich cultural tapestry of the City of Liverpool - all for FREE.

RED DOT REVOLT are taking over the Centre with a ground-breaking showcase of local known and unknown South Asian Australian performers, dancers, musicians, comedians and visual artists for one night only.
The headlining act will be a never before-seen movement, sound and visual experience by BINDI BOSSES called TRANSCENDANCE. It will feature live drums and DJing by Senthuuran Thevarajah, visuals by Karmatography & Shankari J, video by DA Choreo and performances by Western Sydney’s hottest dancers including South Asian powerhouse Intention and Afrokadabra’s Migisha & Thuba alongside core BINDI BOSSES artists Jes Subba, Sarangi Rupasinghe, Shankari Jeyaseelan and Smrithi Karmakonda. Hosted by Founding Director Shyamla, the showcase will pay homage to the roots and influences that have shaped BINDI BOSSES and continue to inspire its unique art that transcends dance and culture.
Anthi, an incredible collaboration between IQBAL BARKAT, Western Sydney filmmaker, and ANANDAVALLI, veteran Western Sydney Bharatanatyam dancer/ choreographer, will also be projected outside on the front of the building. The film showcases Anandavalli performing in the ravaged landscape of the January 2020 bushfires, juxtaposed against the already regenerating bush.
Pull up a lawn chair and watch this visually stunning piece that was especially designed to be viewed outdoors.
And let’s not forget about food! Local South Asian food truck operators will add to the outdoor experience while a special menu created by Bellbird’s own South Asian Commis CHEF GLENN FERNANDES will be available indoors.
This event is free, however registrations are required.
