Palazzo di Cozzo - part of the Italian film series
In conjunction with Cultura Italiano and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre
Palazzo di Cozzo is a charming portrait of Sicilian furniture merchant and cult Melbourne icon, Franco Cozzo.
Director Madeleine Martiniello captures the fascinating and endearing story of Cozzo's journey from rural Sicily in 1956 to the high streets of Melbourne. From a door-to-door salesman upon his arrival in Australia, two years later he is opening his first furniture store and starring in his own television advertisements - repeating the tri-lingual catchphrase Megalo! Megalo! Megalo! that made him a Melbourne household name and a very rich man.
Overflowing with charm and personality, Palazzo di Cozzo will have you enthralled with the man who at 82 is still working six days a week and is wrestling with his own mortality and the dwindling market of consumers wanting to buy the same furniture he has sold for the last sixty years.
Tickets are $10 each and include a beverage of your choice (eg. glass of wine, beer, soft drink, coffee).
