This tender human drama stars James Norton (Little Women, 2019) as a terminally ill single father searching for a foster family for his son. The first feature in seven years from award-winning writer-producer-director Uberto Pasolini (The Full Monty, 1997; Still Life, 2013) is one of those very rare films that’s both heartbreaking and magically life-affirming. The setting is an ordinary neighbourhood in Northern Ireland. But there is nothing ordinary about John, a 35-year-old window washer with only a few months left to say goodbye to young son Michael and find him a new family. Pasolini’s superb screenplay and masterful direction is matched by magnificent performances from Norton and child actor Daniel Lamont. This is a social realist cinema of the very best and most moving kind.
‘Uberto Pasolini's film takes a real-life story as his starting block and turns this tiny Northern Ireland-set tale into an almost sensory experience.’ – Fionnuala Halligan, Screen International
‘This expertly crafted feature is expressive, sensitive and incredibly touching.’ – Guy Lambert, The Upcoming
