Idil Abdullahi, ‘Artists in Volatile Landscapes’ exhibiting artist, invites you to a relaxing workshop that explores the use and processes of henna and turmeric as an artistic medium for mark making.

This engaging session invites you to unlock the potential of these natural pigments as an instrument for self-expression and story-telling. Create your own unique artwork inspired by personal, family or community experiences.

Bookings essential as places are limited.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Idil Abdullahi, who was born in Somalia, arrived in Australia as a refugee with her family in 1993. They settled in Western Sydney, where she still lives and works, dedicating herself to nurturing the culturally rooted creative practices of other women and young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds, in addition to her own. Abdullahi is known for her mastery of the delicate art of henna painting, a skill she has been honing since she was a small child, as well as her work with ceramics, photography and textiles.

RELATED EXHIBITION: Artists in Volatile Landscapes. Running from 24 June to 24 September 2023. More information here.
