Forced to Flee
A Treehouse Theatre production
90 Mins
Refugee Week 2024 comes alive at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre with Treehouse Theatre's latest production Forced to Flee.
This profound 90-minute production delves into the authentic stories of 25 individuals who escaped their homelands, sought asylum, and eventually found resettlement in Australia. These narratives, ranging from heart-wrenching to uproarious, are brought to life by a remarkable cast of ordinary children who have undergone extraordinary life experiences.
These young refugees, now settled in Western Sydney and attending Miller Technology High School, share their personal journeys in a deeply moving performance that represents 12 weeks of trauma recovery work.
Forced to Flee not only resonates with audiences from Year 5 to 12 and adults but also offers invaluable professional development for those working in refugee communities, including teachers, community workers, and law enforcement personnel. This production serves as a testament to the resilience and unwavering desire of these remarkable young people to belong to their new country, Australia.
