Treehouse Theatre and Casula Powerhouse bring Refugee Week to life with their latest gut-wrenching yet heart-warming production, “Escape from War.” Watch these resilient young survivors, now attending Miller Technology High School, perform their true, personal stories of escape from war.
Their hilarious childhood stories from their home countries delight us, and we connect through shared laughter. Their harrowing experiences as victims of armed conflicts move us to tears. They invite us to celebrate their new lives in Australia. Throughout, their resilience, joy, and humour inspire us.
These young refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine model the best of being human in the face of adversity and leave us feeling hopeful about our shared future. This uplifting theatre piece is highly recommended for students from Year 5 upwards and adults and provides excellent professional development for teachers and community workers.
